The Orchard Assault Mountain Bike Race

Yes, yes…I know your excited, but calm down.  The UMass Bicycle Racing Club will host the Orchard Assault Mountain Bike Race in Amherst, MA on May 9th 2009. Look forward to a fun filled day with lots of intense racing. It will be a fast course with tons of single-track! The same course was run for years by the UMass team during the collegiate race series, and it is now open to non-collegiate racers!

Cross-country Course Description:

The course will include fast single-track, fire roads, and maybe some more fun stuff. The loop is about 3.2 miles. Expect a lot of tight turning single-track on the historic Orchard Assault course; with the slight re-routing around a new parking lot, this will be the 16th time this course has been raced!!


II) RACE FEES AND REGISTRATION:

Cross-Country Entry fee is $25.

Entries received after 5/7/09 will be assessed a $5 late fee per event. Day of registration will begin Sunday at 8:00 am, ending a half hour before the start of each race.  The $5 late-fee applies to day-of registrations.

USA Cycling Mountain bike licenses will be required. One-days can be purchased for $10 on the day of the event. Annual licenses will be available for purchase as well.

Directions:

North or South;

From route 91, take exit 19 (exit 18 from the North) to route 9 for Amherst & UMass. Follow route 9 East to the center of Amherst. Go left at light at the intersection of route 9 and North Pleasant Street. Follow N. Pleasant to 3rd light and continue straight onto East Pleasant Street. (Bertucci’s is on the right hand side) Follow E. Pleasant approx. ½ mile, use second entrance to the UMass campus. Parking and registration will be on your right hand side.

East or West;

Get yourself to 91 via the Mass Turnpike (route 90), and then follow directions given above.

    • Prizes are not finalized yet, but i can tell you that there will be a cash prize to upper level podium finishers, and other assorted goodies.
